About

This site was created to help professionals improve how their experience is interpreted during the hiring process.

Many candidates spend significant time applying for roles without understanding how closely their experience aligns with the position. Recruiters, however, often evaluate large numbers of applications and rely on both Applicant Tracking Systems and rapid screening to identify suitable candidates.

The tools and services offered here are designed to help candidates present their experience more clearly and make more informed decisions during the application process.

About Thom Poole

Thom Poole

Thom Poole has spent many years working in business and marketing roles, analysing how organisations evaluate information, make decisions, and assess potential opportunities.

This experience has created a strong interest in the practical mechanics of recruitment and job applications – particularly how CVs are interpreted by both automated systems and recruiters during the early stages of the hiring process. He has trained managers to recruit to their team, and felt the frustrations of a broken system himself.

Through reviewing job descriptions, CV structures, and recruitment screening methods, Thom developed the RiskIQ™ approach, which provides a structured way of analysing how well a candidate’s experience aligns with a particular role.

Why RiskIQ™ Exists

A common frustration among job seekers is the amount of time spent preparing applications that may never reach the interview stage.

In many cases, candidates are not rejected because they lack ability or experience, but because the signals in their CV do not clearly align with the role requirements. There are now online services that claim to post ‘targeted’ CV in their hundreds for anyone who buys into them. Well, 1) is the application for a role that you really want or are capable of doing? and 2) is it any wonder that recruiters get frustrated at the level of noise for each role they post. We have seen some of the applications first-hand and they are impressive, but when you cross reference the claims on the CV with the Linkedin or other social media resources, they unravel very quickly.

RiskIQ™ was created to provide a practical way of analysing this alignment before submitting an application. You should customise your application and make it applicable for each role that you apply for – and that takes time (not counted in hundreds per day, hour or session!).

By evaluating the relationship between a CV and a job description, RiskIQ™ helps candidates understand potential risks, identify positioning opportunities, and decide whether a role is worth pursuing.
