An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. If you visit my login page, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

RiskIQ and ProfileIQ Services

When you purchase or use services such as RiskIQ™ or ProfileIQ™, we collect and process the information you provide in order to deliver the service.

This may include:

  • your name and email address
  • CV or résumé content
  • job descriptions or role specifications
  • any additional information you submit as part of the analysis process

This information is used solely for the purpose of:

  • generating your requested analysis
  • delivering your report
  • providing relevant service-related communication

We do not store completed analyses within your account area. You are responsible for retaining your report via email or by saving or printing the results provided.

Data submitted for analysis is retained only for as long as necessary to complete the service and deliver the output. It is not used for profiling, resale, or unrelated processing.

Service Communications and Follow-Up

When you purchase a service, we will use your email address to:

  • deliver your order confirmation
  • provide access to your account
  • send your analysis results
  • provide relevant follow-up information related to your purchase

Where you purchase a product or service, we may contact you with relevant follow-up information, tools, and related services that support or extend your original purchase. You can opt out of these communications at any time.

You can opt out of non-essential communications at any time using the unsubscribe link provided in emails or by contacting us directly.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on my website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. No data is sent or stored outside the United Kingdom. Third party applications and content may store this differently, but they all adhere to the GDPR.
